A Whitehead Theorem for Long Towers of Spaces T

We show that one can construct the universal R-homology isomorphism K ~ E~X of Bousfield [1] by a transfinite iteration of an elementary homology correction map. This correction map is essentially the same as the one used classically to define Adams spectral sequence. This yields a topological characterization of the class of local spaces as the smallest s containing K(A, n)'s and closed under ...

On Tychonoff's type theorem via grills

‎Let ${X_{alpha}:alphainLambda}$ be a collection of topological spaces‎, ‎and $mathcal {G}_{alpha}$ be a grill on $X_{alpha}$ for each $alphainLambda$‎. ‎We consider Tychonoffrq{}s type Theorem for $X=prod_{alphainLambda}X_{alpha}$ via the above grills and a natural grill on $X$ ‎related to these grills, and present a simple proof to this theorem‎. ‎This immediately yields the classical theorem...

Bishop-Phelps type Theorem for Normed Cones

In this paper the notion of  support points of convex sets  in  normed cones is introduced and it is shown that in a  continuous normed cone, under the appropriate conditions, the set of support points of a  bounded Scott-closed convex set is nonempty. We also present a Bishop-Phelps type Theorem for normed cones.

A Non-reflexive Whitehead Group

We prove that it is consistent that there is a non-reflexive Whitehead group, in fact one whose dual group is free. We also prove that it is consistent that there is a group A such that Ext(A,Z) is torsion and Hom(A,Z) = 0. As an application we show the consistency of the existence of new co-Moore spaces.

A Kadison–sakai Type Theorem

The celebrated Kadison–Sakai theorem states that every derivation on a von Neumann algebra is inner. In this paper, we prove this theorem for ultraweakly continuous ∗-σ-derivations, where σ is an ultraweakly continuous surjective ∗-linear mapping. We decompose a σ-derivation into a sum of an inner σ-derivation and a multiple of a homomorphism. The so-called ∗-(σ, τ)-derivations are also discussed.
